Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and Talkk ("Talkk", "we", "us") for the use of the Talkk app and website. By creating an account you accept them.
1. Who can use Talkk
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law.
- You sign in with your mobile number, verified by a one-time password. One account per person.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your phone secure.
2. What Talkk is
Talkk lets you have voice conversations with Saathis: verified adults who offer friendly conversation on topics such as films, sport, music and everyday life. Saathis are ordinary, caring people who enjoy a good conversation. They are not doctors, therapists or counsellors, and Talkk is not a medical or crisis service. If you are in distress, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24x7), or 112 in an emergency. Talkk is not a dating service, and it does not offer or permit sexual or romantic services of any kind. Saathis appear under a display name and avatar they choose, to protect their privacy.
3. Saathis
Saathis are independent individuals who are verified by us before they can take calls and who agree to our rules. A Saathi decides which calls to accept and may end a call at any time. Saathis are paid by Talkk for the minutes they talk.
4. Wallet, prices and billing
- Calls are paid from a prepaid wallet. Prices are listed on our pricing page and in the app.
- Each Saathi's per-minute rate is shown in the app before you call. Calls are billed per started minute, and only after the Saathi accepts and the call connects.
- If your balance runs out, the call ends. The app warns you before that happens.
- Wallet balance has no cash value, cannot be transferred and is not interest-bearing. Refunds follow our cancellation and refunds policy.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not store your card or bank details.
5. Rules of conduct
Talkk has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You agree to follow our community guidelines. In particular you must not:
- ask for or share phone numbers, addresses, social media handles or other contact details;
- engage in sexual, obscene, abusive, hateful or threatening talk;
- harass anyone, or keep contacting someone who has declined or blocked you;
- record calls without consent, or impersonate anyone;
- use Talkk for anything illegal, including fraud, solicitation or any content involving minors.
6. Safety, moderation and enforcement
We may review reports, warn users, limit features, suspend or permanently close accounts that break these terms. Wallet balance on accounts closed for serious violations may be forfeited where permitted by law. We cooperate with law enforcement when required.
7. Availability
We try to keep Talkk available at all times but do not guarantee that a particular Saathi, or any Saathi, will be online. Calls depend on network quality on both sides.
8. Liability
Talkk is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. We are not liable for what users say in conversations, but we act on reports as described above.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these terms and will notify you in the app when we do. You may stop using Talkk and delete your account at any time.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at the place of our registered office have jurisdiction. For any complaint, please first contact our Grievance Officer (see contact).
